I few years ago I had fascinating opportunity to take a one on one guided tour of Bobby Rahal’s “Garage-mahal” at the Autobahn Country Club outside of Chicago with the man himself. Among the exotics and vintage race cars there was one little car in the corner that clearly was getting some use. It was an impossibly perfect vintage Cooper. I asked Bobby about it. He just smiled and said, “oh that’s Graham’s”. He drives that probably more than any other car he owns.

The Wallstreet Journal recently caught up with the younger Rahal about his love for the vintage Cooper. Turns out he not only drives it regularly but did a ground up restoration himself on the car. And as it turns out love might be an understatement:

“I have owned a lot of exotic cars through the years, including a Ferrari F40, a Porsche 918 Spyder, and a Porsche Carrera GT, which I’d put in the top three sports cars of all-time. But the Mini is my baby. It’ll be with me forever.”
