Fans of the Mini and Sir Alec Issigonis will have a chance to celebrate this October as the Heritage Motor Centre in Warwickshire is holding a special event to celebrate the Mini and some of Issigonis’ more interesting designs (from New Car Net):

The event takes place on Sunday 2 October at the Centre, in Gaydon, where the largest collection of British historic cars and a collection of classic Minis are on public display; including the 1960’s Monte Carlo rally cars, prototypes and concept cars.

This year commemorates the Centenary of the Austin marque and the Longbridge factory where the Mini was designed. On 30 September, the Heritage Motor Centre will be opening a special exhibition about Sir Alec Issigonis, the mastermind behind the design of the Mini, which became an icon. This will feature some rare 9X Mini prototypes not usually on display.
