MINI.com has details on the new 2007 Cooper and Cooper S. The site gives us our first look at the gorgous piano black/creme white interior combination among other niceties. Just uh, watch out for sharks… and bad puns…

The Shark ate my mouse pointer! And I am still not sure if I like the interior or not.
I had a lot of fun on that site last night. My two year old described the shark as “scary!” There are pretty cool images of how the interior illumination works. Also, don’t forget to find the easter egg wallpapers in the back seats!!! 🙂
dare i say with the nav option the center stack might become something could grow on me.
as for the shark, whatever they smoke over at mini must be utterly amazing…lol
I do hope they have a chrono package again. As large as the speedo is, I still prefer to look straight ahead.
I have driven the Echo before, but no matter how many casual or concentrated glances, it was just too different.
yes, no more annoying popup windows
I am getting more and more excited about this new mini. IMHO, one of the coolest new features that they mention on the new site is the “Comfort Access” option, which only requires you to have the key fob in your pocket to start the car.
The shark ate my mouse too! And the frat looking guy that walked out also stole it.
Cool site! I hope that this reflects the next direction the MINI websites are going. Does anyone else really dig the music?
. . . OK . . . thanks Gabe, that shot about two hours here at work! 🙂
The fuel specs they give for the new mini on the site approximate to:
Fuel Consumption (urban) = 26.4mpg
Fuel Consumption (extra-urban) = 41.3mpg
Fuel Consumption (combined) = 34.1mpg
compared to the current mini specs given as:
Fuel Consumption (urban) = 19.9mpg
Fuel Consumption (extra-urban) = 34.6mpg
Fuel Consumption (combined) = 27.4mpg
SWEET! Looks like the weight loss and more efficient engine will prove to help in fuel consumption. Now we will have to wait and see how these numbers play out in real life driving conditions.

Yes! I left the browser open in the background to listen to it! 😛
Okay… now I’m staring to like the R56! Wow that was quick 😉 That piano black/creme white interior is perfect!
Mmmmmmmmm… Comfort Access.
…and the LED color scroll is pretty cool. like a “Mood MINI”.
Gotta drive one!
With the radio in the center gage, how are we to add an aftermarket HU in?
>With the radio in the center gage, how are we to add an aftermarket HU in?
We can’t. Welcome to the future…
Screw the future then! I’ll still with my 06 still he dies!
>Screw the future
I may make a tshirt of that.
Where is Oxygen Blue?
Did anyone happen to notice where the “copious amounts of shark bait” were being smeared onto the mannequin?
Gabe,
So, now that the cat’s out of the bag, what’s next (as in, what’s left to know between now and when the car is available)? We’ve seen what it’ll look like and the colors, and the websites so far have given us a peek of how the car will be marketed, etc. We still don’t know what the packages or options will be, we don’t know much about pricing. Also, there was the first drive for the press a week or two ago, but are those cars known to be exactly how the production cars will drive? I’m sure I’ve missed plenty of factors–how about a run-down of what we do know and don’t know so far?

how about a grill badge? 🙂

If you could only see the back-end of MotoringFile 🙂 We’ve got some stories brewing that should help with all the “next” questions people will surely have.

Soon, I swear!

Beyond the claim that they were heavier (which we now know was incorrect) they should be very similar. However I’m hoping to have some R56 seat time to write about the differences.
I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. . . .
It looks like a MINI, and I’ll bet it drives like a MINI too. Sure, some things are different, odd, and maybe not what I would have chosen, but there is nothing about it at all that is a deal breaker for me.
When the time comes to add another MINI to the stable, I’m sure I will be very happy with a nice 2009 MCS.
I like this site, but I really wish they would tame the Flash a little or put more SKIP buttons beyond the intro.
I’m really tired of watching that dude get dress every time I want to visit the MC section and watching the other dude collect his rope in the MCS section.

If you do, I get a free one right? =P
Maybe it looks better in person, but this is a step backwards .. at least exterior-wise.
