At long last Oxygen Blue has finally arrived on MINI’s European online configurators. For those who may have missed it, Oxygen Blue is a non-metallic that will only be available on MINI One’s, Coopers and Cooper D’s for March production. It’s also worth noting that Oxygen Blue is somewhat similar to Candy Blue – a color officially announced in 2001 but never released.
Thanks to all those who sent this in.
My prediction: Oxygen Blue lasts for acouple years, goes away, then people complain 🙂
I like it – it’s close to one of my faves from the old Mini days. Hmmm.

Finally, a slightly interesting non-metallic color. It has only taken 5 years… Now they just need to do a proper BRG.
Looks like “Bathroom Blue” to me…
Yeah Rob in Dago is correct…this looks like the original Mini Cooper colour of Surf Blue. It was unique and had matching seat trim.
Would I buy one? Perhaps not.
Check out this old timer for sale on ebay;

You know folks…that oxygen blue is THE most unique color I have seen on the MINI thus far…
…and thanks to Greg W,(those pictures were sweet),I could really see myself getting another MC,just for THAT color, only…
Again,thanks to Greg W and Gabe…
ugh! the first blue i dont like…
Interesting as this is more similar to the color I’ve seen in R56 design sketches. I like it, but I’ve heard it would not be available in the U.S.. Any word on that?? I’m planning on an ’08 and OB is at the top of my list (should it be available here)….w/ english oak interior trim. Yum. Don’t worry…I have a backup plan just in case.
The oxygen blue was not listed as a color in the big thick books they were handing out at the Detroit Motor Show, and my guess is those were the official USA Mini sales books. I don’t see anything on it indicating it was specifically printed for the show, it’s very similar in size and print quality (if not better than) the old R53 “catalog”.
Laverne,
Yup… bathroom tile color. Unfortunately I have that color in my bathroom today! Instead of redecorating the retro bathroom, perhaps I should tell people that it’s the new color of MINI?
Your comment cracked me up, Gabe, thanks for the laugh.
Oh, that would be so lovely on an S. Oh well…
Cooper D? I thought the diesel MINIs were all One Ds? Did they change that in the R56?
Actually, GregW, I was thinking of the Mk1 color Aqua, a little more turquoise than Surf Blue – OB is a little between the two. I actually tried to get a Silk Green on my first go-round, for sentimental reasons, but things worked out for a BRG instead. I’ve thought about a re-spray someday in Aqua with a white roof…mebbe, mebbe. 😉

I was hoping it would be a little lighter, but my wife likes it ALOT, so maybe there will be a OB/W parked next to my EB/W this year…
Close to, and in the same taste as, Silk Green. Not that I would get one myself, but it is a nice unique color that I like seeing on the road.

I had originally heard the US wasn’t getting OB. However more recently I’ve heard from sources that it will indeed becoming with March production.
…..add some orange stripes, white gumballs on the doors and a GULF racing logo on the hood!
nice colour..shame about the car…
ooo, i agree with frank about the orange and Gulf racing logos.
it’s quite smurfy.
