With the Clubman on the road in the UK and Europe and weeks away from it’s debut in most other parts of the world, we thought prospective Clubman owners might like a real-world look at the car through the eyes of a MotoringFile reader. These photos were taken by MF reader David B in the UK.

Very nice!
I just received word that my new Clubman S will be coming off (Or already has) the assembly line today!
Billy, if you are out there reading, do you mind checking on my car there at the factory?
Let me know and I’ll send you over my production or VIN number.
Very cool!
Looking forward for these boxy little beasts roaming the US.
I really think they did a great job. Lots of cool little details.
I LIKE IT!! Now, stretch it a bit (length & width), put 4 real doors on there, raise it up enough to mount some truck tires, give us that AWD!
It does look great…there’s gonna be some very happy new owners out there.
…the more i see these is person, the more i like them…
…plus it helps that he bought the best color combo ever…
…dark silver with silver top, just like my R53…
…bright colors are fun but silver on silver action is bad-ass…
…(BRG is a close second)…
Awesome looking car! Is the silver British flag on the sunroof going to be a option in the US. I can’t seem to find it on the mini usa site.
Pick my Cooper Clubman up tomorrow!
My fave part has to be that you don’t see everything under the rear as you do on the R56 frm behind.
I was behind one the other day on the road and its weird how “lifted” it looks from behind.
What say you DavidB. Likes? Dislikes? Wrong side door?
That is suh-weet! I’m a huge fan of that color combo 😉
Love the cubbies in the back doors.
Is it me, or the Clubby looks more R53esque?
By the way my new Clubby is awaiting transport to Southhampton…
Having been able to go see the Clubman in person this morning at the auto show in Salt Lake City, I have to say that I’m impressed and interested. I didn’t know what to think of it when I first saw pictures, but in the “flesh” it comes across as a pretty good little idea.
I saw a Red and Silver Clubman today in Santa Barbara. It was a pleasant surprise. I just wonder what is so special about SB that we have one in town.
I don’t know. I’m just not sold on the clubman. But, I can see how some can be.
i like it. i would love for my wife’s next MINI to be a clubman.
I dig the Hot Chocolate/Silver Roof/Rear/Stripes color option with chrome pkg. and the leather interior option of the same name. At least, on the build your own configurator, it looks hot. I do not like the interior trim color options that you can select with this combo. Also, I think a white roof should be an option.
The car in the photos looks really nice.
I believe this (Clubman) will be a huge seller in the U.S., as wil the R60. I can’t wait!
Does anyone know why you can’t order the LSD with the Auto Trans? I apologize, in advance, if this has already been covered.
Can’t wait to see how the baby fits in the back seat of the Clubman using the clubdoor. we tried already with the R56 and it was a no go… the baby seat didn’t even fit.
James, what baby car seat did you try to fit in? We have a pair of Britax Roundabout car seats that fit perfectly in our R53 and R50 MINIs. I am sure the Britax will work well in the back seat of the R56.
I have a 15 month old baby boy and it actually has been great with 2 MINIs in the household. With our upcoming Clubman, baby duty should be a piece of cake.
Minime, I believe the reason you can’t other LSD with auto tranny is that the existing LSD system was not designed to be fitted with the Japanese AISIN 6-speed automatic gearbox currently fitted in the MINI.
Thanks for the pics David 😀
Sorry for the delay in replying – thanks for everyones comments :-).. This wasn’t actually my Clubman, my dealership gave me one for the day while my R56 Cooper S was in for a sunroof rattle.
I spent the day putting the Clubman through its paces on the Kentish country lanes and came away hugely impressed – I felt it handled just as well as the hatch and the acceleration was almost as fast. The exhaust note was very similar to the R56 but I noticed it was slightly louder, I’m guessing it’s because the exhausts are near the edge of the rear of the Clubman so the noise tends to echo more against walls etc and make its way back to the cabin. Personally I’m not too bothered about the suicide door being on the wrong side since I never tend to park my MINI on a main road anyway. The only downside was the visibility in the rear view mirror – bikes and cars can easily disappear behind the barn doors central pillar. I guess you get used to it though but it felt odd at first. The interior was impressive as well, I like the way they have continued the design theme of the front door cards for the passengers in the back.
Overall I’ll, of course, be keeping my R56 hatchback because I have no need for the extra room in a Clubman but I was hugely impressed and intend to own one at some point in the future.
Thanks again!
Loving mine, done just 50 miles since Saturday….
Can’t wait to take delivery of mine! Come Feb 16th please!
