Crash.net the scoop on MINI’s JCW Challenge Race car test at Silverstone. Here’s an excerpt:
>Newly announced Avon Tyres British GT Championship driver Paul O’Neill was amongst the drivers to get a taste of the brand new MINI John Cooper Works Challenge when the car hit the track for the first time at Silverstone.
>”It’s a great car to drive, like a refined touring car,” O’Neill said. “The engine’s very powerful, the power comes in very smoothly and it feels a lot lighter than it looks.
>”It’s very good in the middle of the corner and you can get it to hop around, so you can dictate where it goes on the exit – it doesn’t have the understeer you normally associate with front wheel drive cars.

WHoa it is the Frickin’ Mach 5! I love how the jacks are built into it! Can we retro those into a street car?

some parts you’ll theoretically be able to retro, like for example the optimized jcw turbocharger, the jcw pistons, the full catback jcw exhaust and the jcw transmission the new factory works will get. to retro these it’ll require quite a few labour hours which you have to consider…
some parts do remain for the challenge only and i doubt that these will ever go on sale through the official jcw aftersales in the future
Mac, just to confirm, the new factory works will get the challenge spoke wheels and transmission, is this correct? Any other bits from the challenge car?

… + 260km/h e.g equivalant miles speedo, 4 optimized pistons, optimized gearbox, full catback exhaust, optimized turbocharger, 4-piston brake kit – these will be the main features

built in jack system is A-mazing! MF must do a special article about it. These must be availible out there somewhere and I bet that BMW is not the manufacture.

I am loving that built in jack system…. that should be an option BMW make available on all MINIs instead of the rather useless jack LOL
Mac, I am refering specifically to the Jack system. That would be ever lovin’ sweet!
