Love the exterior design of the coupe concept with the lower profile roofline, blacked out headlights, aero kit, and contrasting color scheme.

Interior still leaves a lot to be desired, however. For a concept with such sporting character, it should have less plush look/feel IMO, especially with the seats. MINI, why not offer an option of lighter, form-fitting, non-heated Recaros or similar design?

The roof is odd, but something about it just appeals to me. Have to agree with something Gabe said on WhiteRoofRadio that from eye level the line of it really works.

For the interior I am betting we should hold off on worrying about as the mid-cycle design will happen before these cars come out. I also would really love to see BMW/Mini find a way to get something like a Recaro or Sparco into this cars in the US (atleast as a option).

Not to get picky, but the coupay isn’t in motion – the camera is! And the coupay still looks dorky.

This is a great opportunity for Mini to simplify their design – lose the chrome pieces, the stripes, the part of the roof that droops over to the side windows, the fake vents on the body kit. Clean up your act, Mini! You don’t have to make a TT, but there is way too much stuff tacked on too small of a car here.

I finally figured out the roof, mirror caps, and stripes are Sparkling Silver. That’s an interesting choice. I almost thought it was Dark Silver or Pure Silver, but this video made the color a little clearer. Dark Silver would actually look sweet!

Does anyone else think this car is closer to a production vehicle rather than a concept? The Clubman and Countryman concepts were both very distant from a production vehicle, but two-seater coupe looks like MINI could sell them tomorrow.

I was looking forward to seeing the MINI Coupe, but that roof is horrible. Don’t like the way it comes down on the sides. Looks like visibility would be impaired also. I hope the roof gets reworked before production because that’s a deal breaker.

Liking it – however it needs to loose the spoiler on the roof and taper it out to the rear of the car with a little sporty spoiler there… That will look the nuts.

Anyone else think the patchwork seats look like a Klingon’s forehead? Not saying it’s bad, but it’s… odd… as is the top half of the car. I think the shape would work better as a power-retractable-hardtop, but as a permatop… eh.

I’d be willing to bet that the production model’s roofline would look a bit different simply based on the general reaction of most folks here. Seems like the vast majority of responses consist of an overall approval of the design- except for the top contour and/or window spoiler. I’d imagine the MINI folks are getting much the same reaction elsewhere…

The coupe will be incredibly fun to drive. That comes first. I haven’t seen anything yet including Brian’s roof that I couldn’t live with on the current body.

Gimmee! I want!

Don’t like this at all!

Changed my mind. Really like it! Looks like a MINI muscle car.

Not likin’ it so far. :(

As far as looking like a production car, from Gabe’s first post about the concept:

“The MINI Coupe Concept uses off the shelf parts (it’s based on an R57 JCW) and a bespoke roof to all give us an idea of what will be coming in the next 18 months with the production MINI Coupé drops.”

The roof makes me want to peel it open … and really reminds me of one of those pocket can openers.

or maybe I just need a beer ;)

Actually, the car is not in motion. The camera is.

yea the roof is way too low..raise it up 4 inches and im sold on it.

As someone who is prone to wearing his ballcaps backwards, I kinda like the roofline…

Liking it – however it needs to loose the spoiler on the roof and taper it out to the rear of the car with a little sporty spoiler there… That will look the nuts.

Looks pretty good, but I would have gone with a roof-line like this:
http://pixelounge.de/mini-coupe.jpg
I don’t like the concept roof that much…

Much Better!

It looks like it’s wearing a toupee. ick.

Not liking it much! Still waiting for the Speedster, hope they don’t keep the same lines. Lower, Shorter, Wider, Faster!

I see what’s in my future and in m3 Laguna Seca Blue.

The roof is overdone, tacky and ugly.

Hate it or love it!!!!!!!!!
