MINI Named “Car of the Decade†by Automobilewoche
German automotive publication Automobilewoche, a sub-publication of Automotive News, has named the MINI “Car of the Decade.” Our german is a little rough, but what we’re able to glean out is that while Ford’s Fiesta and VW’s Golf family of cars outsold the MINI from 2000-2010, the MINI deserves the honor because it’s been a game changer. More specifically, the MINI has created an entire car segment that previously didn’t exist: The Premium Small Car. Big congrats to MINI and a big thanks to Gert H. for sending us the news.

Should be interesting to see how MINI does with the next decade with the introduction of the crossovers into the line. I know that the R60 was started a little in the first decade but I think the impact (either positive or negative) will be a clearer picture in the next decade.

Great job MINI and lets hope for a equally great next decade.

A well deserved award. What else can you say?

The legend continues…..

Fun fact. I’m particularly fond of that photo as that’s the nose of my MINI.

Nathaniel, is that your MINI on the cover of their magazine? Very cool

No no, I’m just talking about the photo for this post. It’s from my Flickr stream.

Definitely deserved. The original Mini was a car of the century.
