@Pilips, thanks, now I get the point. But it would be much more interesting to see a Mini (or a family of Minis) jumping a row of monster trucks.

Just bizarre! Completely a waste of time. All we need now are more racial stereotypes. Honestly I know they are shooting towards humor but to me is rather lame. I know this is European but think they missed a couple more stereotypes for European nations.

I am sure the truck will hit the R60 and will miraculously bounce off or will pull away. Either way this ranks as my least favorite MINI commercial ever!

Ah, slow-mo, you make everything better. I thought everyone was worried about the MINI’s safety, but I could be wrong. Regarding JonPD’s stereotypes, clearly I missed those, what are you talking about?

What the hell is wrong with you folks???? That’s one funny commercial! Stereo types??? Seems you’ve never been to a Monster Truck event. It’s pretty much as shown, I’d even say the folks who attend those events would agree, not a slam.

GAD, lighten up it’s a MINI not freak’n golden calf!

I thought it was funny. The ridiculousness of the situation and the slo-mo reactions had me laughing.

BTW, I went to the MINI Countryman intro event in Vancouver last week. Finally saw the car in person and was impressed. Short of an actual test drive, this car would be at the very top of my CUV list if I were ever to want one. It is much easier to get in and out of. Nice car.

Does anybody know if JonPD actually still owns a MINI?

I found the commercial amusing…Perhaps some prefer something old school 1950ish where some serious guy in a suit walks on screen and tells you to buy pall mall for strong smooth flavor….lol….really? What do you expect?….in the 21st century commercials are supposed to be funny and entertaining……BTW….Dr. Bem was neither!

I didn’t see any racial stereotypes, but it makes one wonder if this perpetuates a certain mental image of America carried by many over there across the pond.

Certainly harmless. But not very appealing or funny. I kept hoping to get a better look at the MINIs.

I think Gary was closer to what I was trying to say. Think this commercial just goes to broad stereotypes held in Europe about Americans. Both the Orientals and African American seemed also to hold to typecasting. While I have never gone to anything with monster trucks personally I have had many friends (usually with children) go to the events. Don’t get me wrong there are people they are portraying like this here, I still think its basically to a pretty low brow. There have been a lot of great MINI commercials over the years but for me this one is a pretty miserable miss.

Guys don’t get me wrong my issue with this is not about the car (though not a fan of it), just was saying the recent advertising has been not up to the standards of the previous attempts. A ton of really good advertisements have come out over the years for MINI though I have to say the recent advertising only two stand out as really good products to me. “Flow” and the MINI scooter commercial were as good as anything I have seen from MINI personally over the years.

If you want funny watch the commercial with the woodchucks, now that’s funny. To bad I don’t remember if they are selling beer or insurance. To my mind car commercials are best when they emphasize the styling and performance advantages of the vehicle.

I didn’t care for it but others in the office were really enjoying it. Even if its not for me, its still different than other commercials out their and that is what I like about MINI.

Aurel – “That green on the Clubman? What is that when where can I see it in the flesh?”

That’s the new-for-2011 British Racing Green 2. It’s a nice color, but hard to photograph because it looks almost black except when hit by bright light. Looking at the still shot, I’d say that there’s a lamp hidden by the blue car that’s lighting up the green one. I’ve got a 2011 Clubman in this color, and it rarely looks like that!

REALLY… 3million dollars to show that… I think everyone will forget this one, and talk about the Darth Vader VW commercial around the water cooler.. now thats a good one

Eh? I think I get the commercial, but not sure I like it.

The new BRG looks really good, though!!

A Mini waiting to be crushed? So whats the point of that commercial other than showing some folks behaving badly.

Point is that the MINI family has become larger, so everyone is worried that the monster truck won’t be able to clear it?

Pointless. Lame. I want my 1:31 back.

Thanks for explaining it Phillip….I just didn’t get it. Why do all MINI commercials have to be funny anyway?

Ah, slow-mo, you make everything better. I thought everyone was worried about the MINI’s safety, but I could be wrong. Regarding JonPD’s stereotypes, clearly I missed those, what are you talking about?

I liked it. I might watch it a few times. I’d love to actually see it in 3D!

Funny! At least to me. Probably not for everyone…but nothing ever is.

You’re welcome to ask him directly, but let’s not go down the path of commenting about anyone else.

Now that would be a commercial!

Longest minute and thirty-one seconds of my life.
