Official Statement: BMW recently has informed NHTSA of the company’s intention to expand a previous safety recall filed in December 2014 to include additional Model Year 2014-2015 MINI Hardtop 2 Door Cooper and Cooper S as well as Model Year 2015 John Cooper Works vehicles produced from December 2013 through March 2015.
The affected vehicles may marginally exceed a side impact performance requirement. Rear seat passengers in affected vehicles could be at a slightly higher risk of injury after a severe side impact.
Owners and lessees of affected vehicles will receive a letter via First Class mail asking them to schedule an appointment with their authorized MINI dealer where additional energy absorbing material will be added between the vehicle’s rear interior side panel and the body.
The company is unaware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

When will there be a recall on those MASSIVE cartoon tail lights?

No, get over it. If you don’t like them then don’t buy it. The FXX design language is the way MINI is going. I thought people were finally done crying about “the front bumper this…” or the taillights that…” or “MINI isn’t mini any more, diluting the brand…” This is what sells and what sells makes money to keep the company going.

I know the comment was off subject but when something looks bad designers need to hear about it. Apparently they got the message on the new Clubman. The front looks so much better.

Guess that is why they just keep selling more and more pretty much every year.

never thought of it that way. guess my grandmother’s camry is good looking after all.

When something looks bad designers need to hear about it. Apparently they got the message on the new Clubman front design. It looks so much better.

I’ve got a 2015 Cooper S in the thunder gray which seems to mask the front end features seemingly better than some of the other colors. The tail lights have never bothered me.
