While we were going hands-on with our own MINI JCW GP first ride, we couldn’t help but notice our friend Rory Reid doing his own video with full camera crew in tow. As it turns out, it’s one of the best (and most succinct) looks at the new GP.
Rory makes many points here, but one that shouldn’t go unnoticed is that the new GP is slower than the JCW Clubman in a straight line but faster on track. That speaks to the thorough job that MINI has done rethinking what the F56 chassis can be.
The 2020 GP3 begins production this spring with first deliveries hitting dealerships this summer. For more checkout the MotoringFile GP section here.

The first half was pretty good; Rory showing us the highlights of the car while it’s parked. I looked forward to the second half, where he was supposedly going to flog it on the track himself, but alas, disappointment. He was relegated to being a mere passenger, much like Gabe was in a previous video here on MotoringFile. Too bad… I was looking for a proper flogging.

He implied it’d be driven in anger, but it was more a parade lap, and at most, the car was driven at 4/10ths.

Looking forward to Clarkson getting a hold of one, or Chris Harris. This left us wanting…

motoringfile warned that it’s a “video review” and that the real reviews will be in March 2020
