Since the remake of The Italian Job came out in 2003, speculation has been that there would be a sequel, which has to this point been referred to as The Brazilian Job. Related to this, there has also been speculation that the sequel may not feature the MINI Cooper.
This morning, Seth Green (member of the 2003 Italian Job cast) was on Los Angeles radio station KROQ and said that in the latest rewrite of the script, the location of the movie was now London, not Rio de Janeiro. While no mention of MINI was made in the exchange, it would still appear to offer some hope for MINI fans.
Okay, so, you really can’t do an Italian Job sequel in the UK without including Minis/MINIs. This is the country that invented the soccer hooligan, and a fair amount of those folks are Mini fanatics and Italian Job (1969) fans. You just don’t piss those people off.
Rangers F.C. rules!
He, he, he….
ill tell u all right now. if there are no minis in the sequel, i will refuse to go see it….. unless they have three elises. in which case i hope they’re stealing cash not gold
Okay, Fireball, spill the beans, what do you know, mister hollywood movie car designer?
That was a sinister laugh, Tim.
YOU DO KNOW SOMETHING!!!
Spill it!
If it is Elises they better be stealing a credit card. No room for cash or gold.
Call
I will believe it when I see it, until then you can say it is “The Fireball Job”:)

According to imdb.com the movie, as of 8 Sept 2006, the movie is still called The Brazilian Job and is scheduled for a 2008 release. Status is currently “scripting”.
Yes, Charlize is credited as appearing 🙂

Well could it be VW Beetles? Why does everyone associate VW Beetles with The Beatles? and in Austin Powers 1? John, Paul, George and Ringo never owned any – they all owned Mini cars. The Magical Mystery Tour featured George’s car. Even Cirque de Soleil Beatles show in Vegas features a VW Kombi?
Why? Is it because the flower power generation of USA had some connection with VWs and Beatles music?
Anyway back to the Brazilian Job – why make a Theme Park ride at Paramount and ditch the star players?
My guess Fireball Tim is already making the cars…
I was in the paddock of a track day next to a Lotus Exige last weekend. The trunk was about twice the size of our glovebox, but it did have the inside emergency release, just incase someone was able to climb inside of there and closed the hatch…
If the movie doesn’t have MINIs, Mark Wahlberg and Edward Norton I just won’t see it.
Last I heard they are still writing the scrip but it doesn’t look good…hm who beleives People Magazine anyway!
I like the idea of Elises or Exiges in the next movie. Contrary to popular belief, the Elise has more trunk space than the Solstice and close to the same as the Miata. The Elise has 4 cubic feet of trunk space compared to the Solstice 3.8 cubic feet with the top up, or about 2 cubic feet with the top down. The new Miata, er, MX5 is the hands down winner with 5.3 cubic feet. The biggest problem with the Elise making off with stolen goods is that the max. allowable weight in the trunk is 50kg, or about 110lbs.

Remember, it’s a HEIST movie.
Tickets were not sold based on the cars(MINI’s) that appeared on the film.
An exec found an opportunity with the FREE MINI’s, took it… saved a lot of production cake.
IF MINI is going to donate 30-40 MINI’s again…. they will appear.
Or, look at it like this… whoever donates the goods will get the PR.
Remember also, MINI is based… where?
That’s right Dog. MINIUK spends more on PR than MINIUSA.

Oh yeah? A whole bunch of tickets were sold just for that reason. Just about anyone who owned a MINI took friends and family to the movies to see the Italian Job simply because it featured MINIs. I saw the film twice. And I’ll bet many of those same people purchased DVDs of the movie they’d already seen for because of the MINIs. (I know I did) Trust me, if it featured Camry’s instead of MINIs nobody would have seen it.
