Behold, every MINI model (sans convertible) lined up next to the Countryman. Here’s your chance to see the R60 compared the other MINIs in pretty much every way. Enjoy.
This week MINI officially takes the wraps off of the Countryman to the public. The Geneva motorshow will host the Countryman Debut as well as the updated MINI engine line-up.
Official Release: Celebrating the world debut of the brand’s fourth model, MINI is setting one of the outstanding highlights at the 80th Geneva Motor Show 2010.
The MINI Countryman carries over the driving pleasure so typical of the brand into a new dimension. This is the first MINI with four doors and a large tailgate as well as a variable interior offering space for up to four occupants. At the same time the MINI Countryman is the brand’s first model measuring more than four metres (157â€) in length and available as an option with ALL4 all-wheel drive.
MINI USA’s rolling festival of all things MINI is back for 2010. After sitting on lots of details over the past few months we can finally report what we know.
After much deliberation MINI USA has decided to combine the best parts of the last two events and combine them. The event will start with a handful of events around the country in major cities. From this point there will be a rally (aka a cross-country road trip similar to MTTS ’06) from the starting point to a central location. What we can finally confirm that that central location will be Denver Colorado. Once there attendees will be treated to a two day festival including many of the activities we’ve seen at both MTTS and MINI United over the years. We expect this to culminate in a headlining concert on the last night. This final festival will take place on August 6th through the 8th.
We’re still getting details on the starting points and their associated dates but rest assured you’ll hear it all here first.
And one more thing, expect to see something not seen on US streets before. Both on the rally routes and at the event.
Last week we told you about MINI USA’s latest special edition MINI, the Laurel Sport. This week we actually have our first look at the car. The Laurel Sport will be produced in very limited quantities; 100 R56 hatches, 100 R55 Clubman and 100 R57 convertibles.
The idea is to combine sporty components with exclusive accessories meant to evoke a classic British style. The John Cooper Works Aero Kit, the MINI driving lights, the black 17†Alloy Wheels and the black Mirror Caps give you the sport. The Laurel Sport Edition Door Sills, Side Scuttles and Stripes on the Bonnet, Tailgate, Roof and Side Panel emphasize the British heritage of the breed. In our mind this is one of the better “off the shelf” limited edition models MINI has come up with yet. Yes it’s not a model with new technology or unique colors. But it’s a great value with the combined options and plenty rare. Here’s the full rundown of what comes with the car:
Next week MINI will officially take the wraps off of the Countryman to the public at large during the Geneva Motorshow. But what does it take to get ready for that unveiling? The people behind MINI’s MINI United Facebook page had a sneak peak at the preparations yesterday at the plant in Steyr Austria.
Following an old and time proven of using sex to sell, MINI’s latest Clubman ad tells the story of space in a not so subtle way. It’s also time proven because this isn’t the first time MINI has insinuated “adult situations” in trying to explain how much space the MINI has to offer. The first commercial to do this of course was MINI of Canada’s spot below. (after the jump) continued →
To coincide with the Countryman’s launch next week in Geneva MINI and their agency have created the first long form commercial/promo video for the new crossover. At 2:30 it’s clearly meant to give not only a good look at the Countryman but some insight into who the campaign is aimed at. For instance for the first time in any MINI video we actually see families and children. It still has that MINI attitude but it’s inset in a little more reality than before.
