News comes from MINIUSA PR:
A car with the interior strength and superiority of the MINI also deserves a few discreet touches on the surface, provided they come in top quality.
Precisely this is why John Cooper Works offer a range of high-quality carbon components giving the MINI a powerful sports look from front to rear and adding interesting highlights in colour: The air scoop in the engine compartment lid (MINI Cooper S only), the rear-view mirror flaps and the rear lid handle are all available in this exclusive lightweight material, together with matching trim strips inside.
The highlight of this MINI extravaganza in every respect is of course the rear spoiler on the roof. Also made of carbon, this rear spoiler is a technical and aesthetic eye-catcher on every MINI, probably inducing the genuine fan to keep a second spoiler at home in an illuminated glass cabinet.
JCW Carbon Fiber accessories will be available by late January except for the spoiler which should arrive about a month later. You can view most of the new accessories in the JCW portion of the MINI area at the Detroit Auto Show.

Any ideas as to how much moolah for the spoiler???

Prices for the boot handle and mirror caps?

I always have trouble subscribing to this CF craze. Scoop, mirrors, etc, do not benefit from the weight savings or strength. An entire CF hood does make sense as it saves a lot of weight. But what difference does a scoop make? It's already plastic. Obviously they are just appearance upgrades. Last I checked, JCW was supposed to be about performance upgrades. :)

The only place I could see where there might be real weight savings (and a real benefit from that difference) would be the spoiler.

That being said if you like the look there's no reason to not pick a couple pieces up.

Where are the CF wheels?

Does anyone else think that is ugly? I have a red MCS with bonnet stripes and that CF scoop looks bad but worse the booy lid piece.

I saw a CF scoop on a IB/IB MCS and it was very beautiful 🙂 But for the others colors I don't know, it is better when the roof is the same color than the body I think !

The irony of putting the CF scoop on a car with the aux lights is amusing. Clearly they're just fashion items, because if you had any care about weight, you wouldn't have added the extra lights in the first place.

I for one have been waiting for the CF parts from JCW. I was hoping to get the air scoop, But was a little dismayed when I heard the price, a little over 500.00. My God does JCW think that their name alone justifies that kind of gouging????

Ugly fashion accessories.

It is all about the look. Carbon fiber parts in their natural state actually look like black plastic. The carbon fiber-weave is a wrap laminated to the surface to make it LOOK pretty. In other applications, carbon fiber parts not meant to be seen are usually just black.

I think we have to look at our cars as a whole. And since each of us has trimmed our car in different ways, different trim may not always work. My car is pure silver, everywhere, with polished anthracite BBS wheels. A little carbon fiber here and there may actual spice it up a bit. If I had stripes, I might hesitate…too much going on, too many points of interest, diluted theme.

Man, I just don't get the whole carbon fiber thing. It looks so rice rocket. Weight-saving is one thing, but this is just purely for show. I think these might look okay with silver paint, but red with stripes? Why don't they just put a whaletail carbon fiber spoiler on the back and offer some underbody neon lights while they're at it. Maybe some carbon fiber spinners, too.

i love this stuff, but can you imagine the total cost of a true JCW MCS now?
it's gotta be high 30K now…..

Think over 40K, easy… if you get loaded options throughout.

But if you were going for absolute minimum MCS, except for all JCW options, then yeah, probably high 30s would be my guess.

Edge

$60K+ (CDN) loaded except brakes…which are coming.

I don't like the whole CF thing either, but I LOVED the look of the CF scoop…so I got one. Actually, I saw an owner on NAM that had a painted black scoop on a CRB MCS and wanted that. Ended up getting the CF scoop anyway.

Thinking about the bonnet lid to complete the look. Not if its a small fortune, though.

That crap looks best on a Honda, Scooby, or Mitsu.

Pricey? Maybe. The extra dough must be for the much vaunted and highly over rated JCW warranty.
