More R56 style DIY Friday for you this week. It seems MINI has a new dealer installed spoiler similar to what was originally available for the R50 and R53 MINIs. Interested? Check out the official PDF intall guide below:

Curious. Why a different spoiler offered (other than a JCW product)? I think I’ve seen pics of this one mounted… and I might like it a littel better, but strange to see.
Hmm, I kind of like it (Based on the drawings). AND it’s a bolt-on. Can’t wait to see it “in the flesh”.
I think it looks pretty good. I do not like the R56 S factory spoiler, so this looks like a nice replacement. I’m looking forward to some mounted pictures.
Weird. Would be neat if you could get your choice of spoilers with the MCS. Seems you’d have to remove one spoiler to put another on, and would that leave a mark?

Seems like, if I’m reading the .pdf correctly, that there is a plastic piece covering or replacing a whole strip along the top of the rear hatch… so I’m assuming, no marks or left over holes to fill (like the older JCW wing).

I believe it shows this very wing on a red car about 1/2 way down the page (CR/WHT with the JCW aero kit as well).

No – that’s the stock MCS spoiler.

Weird. The red car must be sitting at a funny angle or somthing. All the pics I’ve seen of the stock one, the center support has been pretty pronounced. Like this one:

Also on the red car from the earlier link, the spoiler looks relativly flush along the outer edge of the hatch, with the spoiler flairing up as you look to the centerline of the car. In comparison, the stock piece seems to jut out from the hatch immediately (and akwardly, IMO). The curvature pictured in the .pdf and the image from the initial link look pretty darn close.
Then again, I’m probably just seeing somthing that isn’t there.

Must be the fish-eye effect in the photo combined with the angle it was taken. Can’t see the center support for the spoiler, the outer edges look like they are flush with the outer edge of the hatch (just like the pic in the .pdf) and overall the piece looks more “flat” versus the rounded R56 mcs unit. My mistake.

Sorry – i think I was looking at the wrong pic. I’m not sure what that is on that site. The spoiler here doesn’t seem like a wing like the one in the pic though.
