MINI Countryman US Pricing and Configurator Launch
We’re just back from the LA Autoshow where we went hands-on with the new Countryman. Of the many things we learned about the new car (look for a post soon) there were two that many of you have been waiting on. So lets get to it. MINI USA will be releasing final pricing for all Countryman Cooper S and Cooper models in the middle of December. The Countryman configurator that many of you have been waiting on will go live in early January.
The Countryman (again Cooper and Cooper S models) will launch in the North American market this March (likely late March) with the PHEV hybrid model hitting dealerships in June. We’ll be driving the petrol powered Countryman in early March and will bring you our first take then.

Since it’s already the middle of Nov., the pricing from MINIUSA on the Countryman models should be out now or next few days?? Have a question re the E Countryman. Will it be only fitted with the base 1.5L engine or will it also be available with the 2.0L S engine when it comes out in June?? Will the E have the 8 speed auto as an option like the other models?

Specs for ya
Cooper Countryman 0-60 9.3 sec ( both auto and manual)
Cooper S Countryman 0-60 7.2 sec (8 speed auto) 7.3 (6 speed manual)
Cooper S Countryman ALL4 7 sec (8 speed auto) 7.1 sec (6 speed manual) Cooper S E ALL4 0-60 6.8 sec

Interesting that the ALL4 S, despite likely being heavier, has better acceleration figures with each transmission than the FWD S. Perhaps it has stronger different gear setup for better off the line figures??

Added note….I thought that the E Countryman will only be available with the 1.5L engine, not the 2.0L. Yet, your acceleration comments include an ‘S’ E ALL4 for the best acceleration figures among all these models.

Will the All4 E Countryman with only that available 1.5L engine have a single exhaust pipe in back like the base model or twin separate pipes like the S model?

My other half and I are fully paid-up members of the 40% Club. “What’s the 40% Club?”, I hear you ask. Well, according to MINI bosses in conversation with Autocar at the LA Auto Show, an estimated 40% of MINI owners give their MINI a name.

Within days of taking delivery of our long term Countryman in January 2011, we gave it the name “Baby Rhino”. We now aspire to own the new Countryman, which looks more like a young adult of a car. We think the name “Horny” might suit it rather well.

It should be middle of December. Re: the MINI Countryman E – it uses the 1.5L three cylinder.

The combustion engine is combined with a modified 6-speed Steptronic transmission.

Specs for ya
Cooper Countryman 0-60 9.3 sec ( both auto and manual)
Cooper S Countryman 0-60 7.2 sec (8 speed auto) 7.3 (6 speed manual)

It’s all in the grip.

Thanks….forgot about the added grip of the ALL4.

I forgot to add one
Cooper ALL4 0-60 9.5 with 8speed auto and the 6speed manual.

Does that mean the 8 speed auto won’t be available as an option for the ALL4 E Countryman like the base & S models?

The PHEV system is designed to work with the 6 speed automatic due to packaging constraints among other things.
