Editors note. MINI is insisting that ‘Inspired by Goodwood’ be in all caps. We think it’s plainly ridiculous looking at won’t be following that custom here on MF.
As MINI Inspired by Goodwood makes its European debut this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, MINI announces UK pricing for the stunning car which blends Rolls Royce luxury with the unmistakble MINI driving experience.
From 30th June 2011 customers will be able to place their order for one of just 1,000 MINI Inspired by Goodwood models priced at £41,000. The first of these unique cars will be delivered in March 2012. continued →
Just as JCW is MINI’s high performance brand, Goodwood will becomes its luxury marque. According to Autocar MINI will build a series of products based on the name and the principles behind it. So what does that mean? Look for future products that use Rolls Royce materials and a look overseen by the RR design studio. continued →
Couldn’t make it to Auto Shanghai this year? No worries because we’re brining it to you with a recap of the MINI press conference and a quick look around the MINI display. Included is the first public look at the MINI Goodwood – the new special edition model designed in cooperation with Rolls Royce. Yes The NYC show has been officially upstaged.
Welt.de is reporting that MINI plans to price the Goodwood at €50,000 for the German market. It’s the first pricing we’ve seen on MINI’s most luxurious model and it gives us some indication as to pricing elsewhere. However (as always) don’t expect a simple conversion rate to give you the US price based on that figure. In fact we believe this gives the rumored $50,000 price point that we’ve heard for years quite a bit some credence. continued →
After more than two years of rumors MINI has finally taken the wraps off of the MINI Rolls Royce collaboration: the MINI Goodwood. The concept is simple; bring Rolls Royce levels of refinement and luxury to a package that is much more space and energy efficient. In total 1000 cars will be made.
Officially called the MINI Inspired by Goodwood (who actually will call it that we have no idea) the car has been thoroughly reworked by Rolls Royce Design to create the most luxurious and opulent MINI ever conceived. Basically if you want leather, wood and plush carpet like no other, you’ve found your MINI.
Interestingly it’s also the first time we’ve seen a Cooper S without the non-functional hood-scoop.
Pricing will be available closer to launch (later this year) but we can safely assume, if you have to ask, you can’t afford. We’ll have much more on the Goodwood in the coming days. Until then read on for the full press release. (Full gallery after the break)
It’s been years in the making but a special edition MINI co-developed by MINI Yours and Rolls Royce will be unveiled next month. We’ve held information on the car close to the vest for quite awhile but with the recent leak of the debut date (the Shanghai Auto Show) we thought it appropriate to give you a little tease. continued →
For 2010 MINI will roll-out the next of it’s high-end limited edition models with the help of Rolls Royce Motor Cars. Since we broke the story about the RR MINI last May, few details have made their way out of either Munich Germany or Goodwood England (Rolls’ headquarters). But that’s not to say we don’t have some of the basics down. For starters the car will feature Ming Blue exterior paint with ultra soft leather and high gloss plastic on much of the interior surfaces. More specifically look for a custom dash, headliner and other signature items. The images seen earlier in the year on MF showed much if this on an earlier test mule. While the final trim and specifications have changed slightly, we expect the car to carry on much the way we see it in the photos above.
However there is one big piece of information we haven’t pried from our sources yet; what the cars final name will be. For obvious reasons using the Rolls Royce brand name doesn’t really make sense on the MINI platform. But what could BMW use that harkens to all of the history, pomp and circumstance that the RR conjures up? Our sources are telling us the answer will be Goodwood.
The name is synonymous with high class motor cars for a couple of reasons. For one the Goodwood Revivial and the Goodwood Festival of Speed are both some of the biggest events on the UK’s motoring calendar every year. But more importantly Goodwood is the home of all Rolls Royce design, engineering and manufacturing.
