BMW/William gives Ferrari F1 Team an MCS

This news comes from F1racing.net…

The F1 Ferrari team received a MINI Cooper S from BMW/Williams. The car was offered to them earlier this weekend at Monza by Mario Theissen on behalf of BMW. With the MINI, BMW congratulates the Ferrari team with winning the F1 championship.

…”When in about 100 years BMW is winning the championship we will offer them a red Fiat Panda,” Luca di Montezemolo (Ferrari president) joked in return.

Sounds like a pretty poor trade to me! You can see photos (including a Ferrari logo on the roof!) and read more here.

…I've to give high marks to whoever did the Ferrari logo on the roof.

…I wonder if the logo was painted on;or,is it a graphic stick-on?

Darren Sep 13th, 2004 Link Reply to this comment

doesn't that seem like a bit of a backhanded compliment (100 years…)? the panda looks like a vw golf; not a fair trade as i see it.

Mike Sep 13th, 2004 Link Reply to this comment

Darren I had the exact same thoughts. :-/

Gabe,

What month of the year would I be able to buy a MINI COOPER S and get a good deal on it from the dealer?

Wraith Sep 13th, 2004 Link Reply to this comment

it sounds almost like this MINI is gonna become a travelling trophy, like what they have in college football. i've just never heard of a car filling that role

Chris K. Sep 13th, 2004 Link Reply to this comment

I think it was a nice gesture from the Williams team. I'd like to see what Schumacher could do with it around Fiorano.

michael Boice Sep 13th, 2004 Link Reply to this comment

The motering world is full of back-handed comments. But I guess winning the Constrcuter's Championship, what, four years in a row gives some insight into the egos involved. The gesture was indeed professional. …I wonder if we'll see the Chrono Package copied and applied to Ferrari's 2005 F1 chasis…na!

RB Sep 13th, 2004 Link Reply to this comment

Shawn…. it's an applied vinyl graphic, pretty simple stuff.

Ya gotta wonder why they choose yellow. I know Ferrari's come in yellow but why would Williams make that chioce? GOOFY.

I'd say in less than 100 hundred years Scuderia/Ferrari better be looking over their shoulders. I'm a Ferrari fan but I think the other teams are catching up….maybe.

ALLE HAGELN MICHAEL!

Chris K…

I noticed on your website the Audi pictured looks like the Audi A4 with the Ultra Sport Package. My wife ordered the Audi A4t Quattro with the Premium & Ultra Sport package in red this weekend.

Nice car.

Well I think we ordered it they are having a standoff on price.

iDiaz Sep 13th, 2004 Link Reply to this comment

They should have kept the MCS and given them Juan Pablo!

RB Sep 13th, 2004 Link Reply to this comment

iDiaz…

That's funny. But might come alive it that car.

Michael Boice – Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro has won the F1 Constructor's Championship consecutively since 1999. That's 6 and counting.

RB – That's an RS4 Avant at Silverstone, I believe. You can now get those 9-spoke 18″ wheels on an A4. You're wife's A4 will look very nice with those on.

iDiaz – they don't want JPM, they want Kimi Raikkonen.

Note the NON-spec configuration – white roof with black mirrors and stripes – could it secretely be a reject? :-)
