I envy that snow. I grew up in northwest Indiana where a snow storm means at least 20 inches of lake effect snow many times more. Since moving to Chicago I've been very very unimpressed with the amounts we've gotten. But I've heard all day on the radio that this is it – this is the last and only big snow storm of the year. So I hoping for at least 8-10 inches but expecting less.

And isn't the Mini fun to drive in the snow!! Before a couple of months ago, I always drove slippery cars. Max was like a snowmobile out there tonight (even without the two Polaris engines)!

The bottom 2 inches of my "snowplow" spoiler are still packed with snow from the drive in on unplowed back roads. Glad I have the skid plate on the car.

My commute from Naperville to Skokie was cake today… 294 was clear as day with not one spec of snow on it. I wish all my commutes were like today! :)

I went through some unplowed streets this morning on the way to work. I was cringing everytime my front spoiler blasted tall snow. The MINI handles well in this stuff – it's just that the ground clearance is fairly low. I also built up some huge amounts of frozen snow and ice on the front my car, over the grill and headlight washer. The washer motor must not be very strong because it looks like they never really extended when I tried to use them during the drive due to the icy snow.

Drew sent me this pic to post on the site. A little MINI snow humor for you:

Another nice little snow issue from this morning was the $60 in tickets I had magically aquired throughout the night by parking in my usual spot on the street. Apparently we aren't even given time move our cars in the morning as I got up and got my car out before 6am. The traffic cops in Wilmette IL. are absolutely ruthless.

Quit exaggerating about our snow in Northern Indiana. The past few years have been poor examples of the snow we received here as kids. Remember when we had the huge blizzard of '78? (I sound like an old woman!) Now that was snow! This year it has been really windy and cold but the snow has been on the non-existent side. Your friends will be sorely disappointed if they venture to Indiana in search of the white stuff.

Check out the snow totals for South Bend compared with Evanston IL. There's a big difference this year (and last). We've gotten very very little. Only two storms more than 1.5 inches all year.

From an MCO forum… "The Kansas City MINI Enthusiasts are meeting at noon on March 8th at Baron MINI for a meeting followed by lunch and a MOTOR. Weather is supposed to be 60 and mostly sunny."

We'll have to shoot for Sunny and 60 on our April drive!

If they don't put the salt on the streets, they have to pay someone to store it in a warehouse (like last year). If they don't use all the salt they order, they won't get enough for next year. When does the madness end??

All I know is that the snowplow guys totally targeted my MC. The snow was plowed above the emblems on the wheels, halfway up the tailgate in back, and up to the bumper in front. Amazing! I'd almost rather they'd just towed the thing down the street. I was the only car so targeted.

Took only a few minutes to break out anyway…muahahah. This all better melt by tomorrow. Harumph.

My bets are that will get half of what is predicted – that seems to be the trend this winter.

Thats not snow … this is snow (assuming the URL works as a link!)

fresh new clean snow = fun

old snow = yuck

That storm was weak. Chicago, you don't have anything on northern Indiana when it comes to snow.

We ended up getting about 6 inches here near Evanston – pretty sad if you ask me.

We couldn't have gotten more than three inches in Bloomingdale.

You're right Steve, the salt is out of control this year. At least we now know why the state government is in so much debt.
