I suppose it had to happen… the MINI Cooper Windows PC.
For all those Windows users who want something a bit different on your desktop this may be another answer. It may also be great for the hardcore MINI collector looking for a way to extend their collection in a new and different way. You can check it all out here: www.yourminipc.com.
Whether MINIUSA is particularly happy about their product being used as a PC that runs Microsoft Windows is another question entirely.

Thanks Casey for the heads up.

Oh, I don't think this one will last long before MINI shuts them down for product infringement. If you want it, you better order it asap.

I don't see MINI shutting them down anytime soon…they are just using off the shelf skins available for RC MINIs that are also available for pretty much every car on the market…that being said – it would have been nice if the computer would have had a little umph to it…but size has its downsides….also windows on a MINI is scary in its own right…and while I don't see MINI bring them down…the OS prolly will :)

That's not suprising to me, as I like to take a look at the projects at http://www.mini-itx.com/ often. What is suprising that someone is actually trying to mass-market what really is a project computer.

Once you go MAC you never go BACK.

Aw, it's not as bad as all that: if you notice, Linux is the first OS listed; XP costs extra.

cletus – good catch – i missed that – not so bad then..but now i guess that means SCO will come knocking at your door claiming they have patents to not only linux but also the MINI now – heck they have made up most of it so far why stop at claimed unix patents in linux. :)

Looks like a turkey.

I actually saw these on the shelf at the Las Vegas Fry's store a couple of weeks ago. My initial thoughts (being the MINI and tech geek that I am) were “Cool! But it's got no room to expand it, and the hardware specs are too low/old”. I mean, who only has 1 cd/dvd drive in a new pc these days?!?!

I'll keep my PowerBook!

Same here! Or should I say I'll replace my Powerbook with another :)

I'l keep my dual processor G5 with my 22″ Cinema display….
Thank you very much.

Right on Arthur!

RB

I'll keep my….wait…I'll trade my 17″ powerbook for Roberts dual G5 with 22″ Cinema :)

Hey all ya need is a credit card and you to can fly……straight to DA PO HOUSE!

But I'm having fun along the way.

Get the 23″ Cinema display instead.

RB

As Far as Expanding it goes, just get a second one and Link them “RALLY STYLE”!

Hahahahaha

hmmm…XGrid comes into mind 🙂 Watch out VT here comes the MINI Cluster!

Wow! Tacky :p

Expandability is not much of a draw with the mini-itx motherboards. But you do get a major size, heat, and even sound benifit. As all around PC's they are not the most powerfull thing in the world, but as a second PC, or a media center type living room pc (not to mention it's use as a small file/print server) they are great little machines.

The article said:

Whether MINIUSA is particularly happy about their product being used as a PC that runs Microsoft Windows is another question entirely.

Actually, this thing doesn't run Windows 'out of the box' – it comes delivered with Linux as standard. Windows is an optional extra.
