Here's a interesting question I got recently about an issue with a first gear whine on the MCS. Unfortunately I don't have an answer so I'm posting it here:

Enjoy your site very much, thanks for the effort. Have posted to some forums in search of an answer to a clutch/transmission whine in 1st gear with my 2004 S. Some of the threads were pretty long, and the dealer solutions have varied wildly (clutch plates…transmission replacements…the whole shift linkage…computer reprogamming). Nobody has been given a clear answer, yet the descriptions of the noise and circumstances are the same. Unlike the basic bumps and rattles, this seems to be a major mechanical issue that is more common than I thoght it would be. Which prompted me to write to you.

Are you aware of any clutch or transmission recalls/difficulties with the S model? I plan on taking the car in this week but I am trying to gather as much info as possible to ensure this is dealt with properly the first time around. Any advice you could lend would be helpful. Regardless, I\'ll send you a note when I find out what the issue is in the event that others have the same trouble.
