Excerpt from Jalopnik.com:
Seemingly ageless customizer, George Barris, designed this two-faced, extended Mini (Maxi?) Cooper, which will be the subject of an upcoming Discovery Channel special.
You can see a photo courtesy of Autoweek here. BTW those wondering… this car was created from the left over pieces of the MINI Limos that were made for the Athens Olympics.

interesting…

How do u drive it?

Whichever way you want? ;)

Alrighty, then! Every so often a hot model of car becomes one of these push-me-pull-u kinda things, it must be some kind of ritual with customizers. Tho Bond did it with back-to-back Bugs to get around the four-wheel requirement at Earl's Court back in the day. 😉 This whuzzat is right up there with those Alpine Stereo thingumabobs at SEMA. Harmless, but useless.

The artical says you drive it like a “Hook and Ladder” fire truck… meaning you'll always have a friend to motor with. :-D

No they wernt Mini has the xxl limo at its hq in munich germany plus that picture old ive see it before plus the mini in the picture has the old bumpers and the xxl was a cooper s with the recently revised headlamps and taillamps.

My friend took several pics of this for me when he was in Sturgis for the Harley thingie.

Most people just wondered “WHY?”. I guess, “Why not?” would be the answer to that!

At least it was made from “leftovers” and no good MINIs were sacrificed.

Jordan

I think you're misunderstanding that sentence. The MINI XXL Limo was built in LA. They had to use a handful of MINIs to create it (the non-mechanicals bits were apparently taken from Coopers). The left over pieces that they didn't need were used to make this car. The MINI XXL Limo is now in Europe.

We saw this car a couple of months ago at a charity car show in Southern Cal, driving around the “Cruise” lane.

It was fantastic, two drivers, it can go either direction and can almost drive sideways.

George Barris was there and still looks good and acts like a kid around all the cars that were there, 3000 show cars was the limit and sells out every year.

When is the show on Discovery going to air?

answer my own question
“the Discovery Channel is airing a show on Nov. 22, 9 p.m. Eastern, with the details. Hey, everybody, let's TiVO!
