As deliveries of the 2005 MINI trickle in we're starting to notice some differences between what we had seen in publicity photos. The most recognizable difference thus far have to be the all red taillights that are showing up on US MINIs. Basically the part of the new light that was yellow (the turn indicators) has been changed to red. Even in the relatively poor quality photo to the right you can clearly see the difference (the US MINI is on the right).
So why was this change made? My guess is that there is some law somewhere in the US market that doesn't allow for the original design. I would certainly hope it's not MINIUSA making a decision on the US buying publics behalf but crazier things have happened.
Anyone else have other theories?
