MINI2 has a story today discussing the recent photo of the front half of the 2005 MINI Cooper first shown yesterday. They go on to discuss in some detail the design changes that will effect the rear of the car as well. Here's an excerpt:
What this photo doesn't reveal is the interior, or rear end of the new MINI design. Well, MINI2 can help with the rear end at least. Shown below is an exclusive shot of the new '05 lamp cluster, which now includes an integrated reverse light. The rear fog light has been moved to the rear centre of the bumper. While I am a big fan of the current MINI rear light clusters, these have been described as “stunning” to see in the flesh, so that's a positive sign!
You can read the entire story and see the photo here.
Some interesting news indeed. As the months go by we should be seeing much more clear shots of the both the exterior and interior changes so stay tuned…

Oh my, that is really a change for the worse. Are they starting to take their ideas from the cheap aftermarket lights?

Deck the car with lotsa folly, fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!

Are they trying to mimic the Peugot 206 with the center fog-light in the rear? A plus and minus of this. Plus- it will be more obvious that it is a rear-fog light. Minus, no more rear-fog light/brake light mod (or if you do, it will look stupid).

Glad I beat the price increase and the light decrease :-)

Has anyone else noticed that the turn signals on the wheel wells have gone missing? (I guess it could be a EuroSpec thing)

I bet the car will be fine. I wonder how all this will effect the S.

The lights on the front an rear wheel wells are a US thing. The tailights look good but I'm glad I have the ones I do. Eventually I will go aftermarket if I ever see some that WOW me. This is all a great commercial for Camera Phones; we just need better resolution.

Ugh…don't like the new taillamps at first blush…and I love the reverse light by itself down on the bumper. Guess I'll be getting my order in well before the summer if I can at all help it…

FYI, Paul at MINI2 mentioned in the forums that the photo of the lamp cluster is distorted and it will be the same shape as the current one.

aww…i liked how the reverse light was seperate from the cluster…
oh well, im still 16 years old and have to wait…
maybe get an used one??? lol, just a thought

John… there's always e-bay.. heh heh..

I actually like the tail light changes. Remember we haven't see the Cooper S front end yet.

The 2005 MCS changes actually will be more subtle than the Cooper's.

I bought my 2002 MCS through Ebay. The car had 13,000 on it and came with just about everything but the GPS which was not something I would have wanted anyway.

I live in Cal and the car was in Florida (2793 miles, exactly). We drove it home and had a blast.

I paid $21,500. The seller had the car checked out at the local dealer (I called them) and they gave it a clean bill of health.

My local dealer also checked the car out and said I stole it for that price.

Congratulations on your new pastime, Robert! You're the first used MINI purchaser I've come across. Sound like you got a good deal. What color is it?

Got a helluva deal, that is by my local dealers prices. The color pure silver wt black roof.

It now has 23,000 on it and no problems except minor things.

Love that car!
