These are the first photos of the MINI Convertible with the optional aero kit and checkered mirror covers. Also seen for the first time in these photos are the R99 double-spoke 17″ x 7″ wheels. Form the looks of things it would seem that they will be lighter than the ironically named S-lites. No word yet on availability or pricing.

I'm kind of lukewarm on the cabrio, but the one shown in these picks is VERY sharp! The aero kit looks good, I like the checkerboard mirrors, and I LOVE those WHEELS!

woah! that looks GREAT!

The MCS Cabrio + Aero Kit + Stripes + Wheels + JCW is gonna be HOT.

Now… will someone make a body kit that will truely make it look like a large go-kart? 😉 How about badging it “MCS Type-S” or “MCSS” (S=Stripped), stripped down interior.

That car is beautiful.

It's nice! Hopefully the Aero Kit will be in better quality than being offered today.
I like the design of the new 17″ wheels: a lot better looking than the JCW , IMHO.

…mmmmm,donuts;er,nice.

hmm dont like the black grill, would be way nicer with the stock chrome one, dont like the wheels, they're just bmw wheels with MINI center caps, dont like the checkered mirrors on the convertible, (looks kinda stupid without the chekered roof) and the JCW rims look way cleaner, thank god i have a 2004 becuase it seems like MINI is beginning to cheapen things out especially the rear tailamps, they look corny

looks hot to me! 🙂
i could have swore that i saw those wheels on the international mini site a while ago, they look great IMHO!
are those wheels gonna be a factory option or just accessory item from dealer?

nicest i've seen yet….now let's drop it on some H&R's and we're set!

I wish they would make that color an option on the MCS, or is it, The rims are cool, I still like the R90's better…R

OMFG those rims are incredible. I hope that since they look simpler to build they will be a less expensive than the r90's.

Thanks Pete… I'm glad i'm not the only curmudgeon here.. 🙂 … Although the rims are not half bad, but I don't care for the exposed bolt heads.

uuuuuggggg, need to start saving for those rims :-)

From a design standpoint, IMHO the convertible benefits from the aero kit bringing the body color/flow “down” toward the road surface. However, to my eyes, the front apron seems a little too “agressive” on the convertible. Would have liked to see a little more streamlibned sculpting there. I like the apron on the hardtop, though.

Personally I think, not a fan of the white mirrors, the checkered mirrors are kinda fun. Would loose the white stripes if that car was mine and paint the aero kit black. Does the “Cab' have the older headlights?.

Thanks again, Gabe, for the fun..R

Nice wheels . . Cant wait to see all the features they havnt showed us yet . . . God knows there has to be a few more supprises on the way.

The wheels do look great on the MINI.
BTW – I don't think the S-lites had anything to do with weight. I believe they were named after the classic Mini-lite wheels, which they do kinda-sorta look like… then again… maybe not. :o)

Anyone knows if the hyper blue is available for MY05 in the Cooper S Convertible ?
Thx

Hmm, is that the Port of Miami in the background? Damn, I missed seeing this!

-James (in Miami).

Hmmm…the aero kit looks the same as the 02-04 kit. I'm sure they've found a way for the older ones not to fit, but I hope not, cuz I'm holding an aero kit ready to go.

Whoops! Nobody notices the BLACK door hardware…COOL!
