For all those MINI owners that are hearing a rather nasty rattle while going over large bumps back in the boot area – there now seems to be a solution. A redesigned latch is now available for retrofitting at your MINI dealership designed to eliminate this issue. After months of procrastinating I finally took my 2002 March build Cooper in to the local dealership and I'm happy to report so far all associated boot rattles have been eliminated. Granted I've heard some reports of this not completely fixing the issue but so far it seems to have on mine.

If you've got the rattle and you haven't taken your MINI in to get it rectified I'd highly recommend it. (I don't have any part numbers at this time).
