I have tried these: the irock & Belkin's itrip. The itrip never did work right and their customer help was zero! The irock did work but where I live, up in foothills, it would not. Had to constanly chase the thing on a long trip across USA. Not good at 100 + MPH.

Gabe, does this device work with the older ipod without the dock port? Does the link work on 2002 mini radio? Sounds like as long as you have the Mini CD player it will.

And last does this mean when you say “it actually takes the place of the CD changer” that you can no longer use the Cd changer? Sorry not too hip in electronics land!

R

Yes this indeed works with the older iPods. I actually upgraded to a 3G iPod (the dock connector type) before I bought the ICE-Link knowing that I'd probably have the ICE-Link longer than I'd have my current 1.5 year old iPod.

Yes this takes the place of the CD changer input on the back of the head unit (meaning you can no longer use the CD changer.) And yes it works on 2002 head units! (which is what mine is actually)

Thanks for the follow up. May just buy one.

I hear of problems with batteries on ipods but never have had any with ours. We bought ours the 1st year they came out and it's still going strong. Hope to get mini ipod/green for birthday.

Still can't figure why no colors on ipods? I mean “Think Different” is their credo, right?

R

The Link sounds like the ultimate luxury for your Ipod. Does anyone know if the title and info is displayed in the head unit for the HK system? Until I can justify the expense, I will just use my Ipod on song shuffle and keep it in the glove, I have the remote device sneaking out of the glove and it goes in the cup holder. Actually pretty conveniant.

No it's not displayed. That being said with a good iPod mounting solution you shouldn't really need anything else than what's on the iPod.

Gabe did you look at the Panavise mount, what the person over at uglydoris did? I think it's pretty nice….

I did. I wanted something that could easily be removed and the Belkin cup holder mount fit the bill so to speak.

Here is the new cradle they will be coming out with in a two to three months. The link will take you to the page at NAM that I posted a picture on. NAM post.

Sorry lets see if this works.

I guess you can't make a comment with a link so if you just click on my name it will take you to the NAM topic for the new iPod cradle from dension.

Fixed. You need to code the link with a bit of html like this link name

I love the idea but I'm not quite sure where and how it will mount in the MINI.

R, I wanted a color iPod, too, and found that you can get custom painted ones from http://www.colorwarepc.com. Its fully waranteed and durable, I love it. Mines bright red.

P.S Gabe-feel free to delete this if it sounds like an add-I have no connection with them.

No worries!

Can you use the auxillary input to connect an iPOD? Is this the same connection as the CD changer?

Josh, thanks for the info.

Still do not understand why they do not have them in color, probably in the pipe…….R

my guess… Brand building. Look at all the consumer Apple products. Of course the Mini iPod probably fits in another catagory altogether.

As a designer I love it in white and would probably not what it in any other color.

Will this work with the new ipod mini????

The review was done using a new 40gig 3G iPod so yes. There is also a version for the prior iPod as well.

It is cute speacially the colored one's, but, I have a problem with i-pod will not work easy with pc, too much proceedure. Also, wires are hangging out,not only that, what if you forgot to take it out?,somebody will brake you glass and steal it. Anyways, I am thinking getting Dension hard drive that you can connect thru cd connector at the back of the car. Sorry this is only my opinion.

Any more info on 'less wires' version they showed a month ago at MacWorld? I have a Dragon Green 15Gig new version iPod (to go with my forthcoming BRG/WT MC S) and it will be used with the BMW/Mini Delphi XM kit on the HK/with Navigation

I didn't see a wireless version – just a new mounting system.
