Our friends over at MINI2 have some inside scoop on some special editions headed for the US market to be released late next summer. It sounds like MINIUSA will be following up the mildly successful MC40 with three different special editions that include a variety of different special modification. Here's an excerpt:
The Se7en will be for MINI Cooper only, we believe offering some trim and performance enhancements, while Check Mate and Park Lane will be available in Cooper and Cooper S form. Included in the the Park Lane special characteristics will be a silver painted roof and wing mirrors, while the Check Mate will feature special logos on the rear quarter glass sections, above the indicator “grilles” on the front sides of the car, as well as a check pattern decal on the front side scuttle panels. There will also be special “Check Mate” logos on the interior door sill plates.

As many know the MC40 wasn't quite the success it could have been or what MINIUSA had hoped. The most cited reason was the lack of a sunroof option and the price. We would assume that all of this will be taken into consideration with the new cars.
