As we've mentioned in a previous post We'll be meeting to discuss the formation of an official Chicago New MINI Club (for background info read this previous post). It seems like we've come to a consensus regarding the where and when part of the equation so I wanted to post the details:
When: 12 noon Saturday the 26th of April.
Where: We'll meet at the Highland House in Highland Park on Highway 41 (the same place we met for the January drive). The address is 2635 Skokie Valley Rd / Highland Park, IL 60035. Their phone number is: 847/433.0961
Who: We'll be putting up the cornerstones of this new club so anyone is welcome to join us who might be interested in either playing a founding role or just joining this proposed group. If you are a regular on our drives and can't make this meeting don't worry – there will be other opportunities to chime in with thoughts about the club on this site and at future meetings. Even if your MINI is currently on some ship crossing the Atlantic you're welcome to come out.
Things to Bring:I'm going to bring an agenda based on the feedback from this post to discuss and work through. Otherwise I'd recommend bringing a notebook, pen, all your best Mini apparel, and a smile.
I'd be interested to hear some thoughts as to what everyone would like to discuss at this first meeting. The things that come to mind right away are:
- Deciding on a name ( Chicago MINI Motoring Society and MINI Motoring Club of Chicago seem to be two frontrunners)
- Discussing legal/tax issues (if anyone has any experience in this area let me know!)
- Discussing the level of annual dues we'd prefer and…
- Deciding what type of events and club freebies we want those dues to pay for
- Appointing interested people in intermediate positions to get the club off the ground
Feel free to add to this list in the comment section below. Further if anyone from outside the Chicago area that has been involved in car clubs of any kind has any advice please feel free to post it here or email me.

<p>Darn, it's a shame you picked the exact same time that Madison area MINI drivers will be circling the Square in Madison at the first Farmer's Market. Someone even arranged for police permission (and maybe an escort)? Can't y'all motor up and join us, and have your org meeting in Madison?</p>
<p>We've actually had this date set since late March so it might be tough to change it at this point. We'll definately have to keeps tabs on eachother in the future – I'd love to hit some of the Wisconsin backroads with you guys.</p>

<p>Won't be able to attend because I have a class that day. I definitely want to be a participant in the formalized club. We have a great informal group and I trust that good plans will be made on the 26th and I hope to be part of the next meeting.</p>

<p>GRRRRRR… due to a family obligation I am now unable to attend :-(. I am very interested in being a member and will be on the site regularly to check out the latest news on the formation of the club. Have fun everyone!!! Motor on…..</p>
<p>So far we have core group of 10 people attending this meeting. Along with that I've had a handful of people express interest in helping with the club but won't be able to make it Saturday. If time permits I'm going to make a small meeting agenda that we should try to get through at Saturday. If I get it done I'll post it here for download. I'd like to keep the meeting fairly informal yet I want make sure to get as much done as time permits. Looking forward to seeing everyone!!!</p>

<p>Thanks everyone for coming out! We had a great meeting and got a lot accomplished. It was also nice to just hang out in the lot afterwards and talk strictly MINIs for awhile.</p>

<p>Sorry to have missed the meeting. Hubby fell ill on the way there so we decided it was best to turn back (he's feeling better today, though). Can't wait to hear what was discussed and any decisions that were made.</p>
