Largest MINI Gathering in the United States Sees Preview of The Italian Job Movie
Over 500 MINI fans gathered in 250 MINIs at the Paramount Pictures Studios lot in Los Angeles, California last night to see an exclusive preview screening of The Italian Job.
MINIs of all shapes, sizes and colors from across the United States came to the famous “blue sky” studio lot to make up an elite crowd that saw the new film in a unique MINI-only setting. Attendees had the film's sound piped into their cars via radio and were served In & Out Burgers and popcorn in true drive-in style. The partisan crowd cheered wildly when the three Minis, in red, white and blue made their entrance and then took the film to its pulsating finale.
Jack Pitney, general manager of MINI USA said, “There has been quite a bit of buzz surrounding MINI's starring role in the upcoming film “The Italian Job” and we were delighted to have MINI fans attend the special MINI-only screening.”

It was real fun! I saw the usual MINI suspects, and some new ones, ate a bunch of free In-N-Out burgers, sat in me MINI at the drive-in, (spooky to look out and see that ALL the car roofs around you were alike!), and saw a good caper movie! Brooksie was back where her namesake, Louise Brooks, once sashayed in the Roaring Twenties. Wowser!

I had the weird experience of having trouble finding my particular car in the dark! – a first! He He! Lotta neat MINIs and Minis, including a fantastic stretch-limo Mini, and a lotta BMW & MINI suits were walkin' around… bathing in the success of the MINI, no doubt. Luckily, the MINIs parked down below, up close to the screen, weren't in the way of a sailing scene from a pirate movie – they were sittin' in the old Paramount water tank! Glub Glub!

Thanks go to Paramount, MINI USA and all the others who gave us a FREE showing. Hope those who were unable to make it will get a shot at alternative local “Italian Job” previews in the works. BTW, the Movie MINIs were AWESOME!
